Where water is found
Most of our planet is covered with water. The biggest amount is in the oceans. There is water in rivers, ponds and lakes too, and some water is frozen as ice and snow on cold mountains and near the North and South Poles.
Salty water and fresh water
The water in the sea is salty, so we cannot drink it. The water in most rivers and lakes is not salty. It is called fresh water. People, animals and plants all need fresh water, so we must keep it clean.
