From seed to plant
Many plants start as a seed. When a seed is planted in damp soil, it begins to grow. First a tiny root pushes down into the soil. Then a green shoot pushes up towards the light, and soon it is a small plant.
What a plant needs to grow
A growing plant needs water and light. A plant kept in a dark cupboard grows thin and pale, and a plant with no water droops and dries out. Give a plant light and water, and it will grow tall and green.
