- We live on Earth, a round planet so big it looks flat when you stand on it.

A round world
We live on a planet called Earth. Earth is round like a ball, and it is enormous. From space it looks blue, green and brown. The blue parts are oceans, and the green and brown parts are land.
Land and water have shapes
Land comes in many shapes. A mountain is very high, and a hill is lower and rounder. A valley is low land between hills, often with a river. An island is land with water all around it. Maps show us these shapes.
